Control your smart home

When your Google Nest Hub or Google Nest Hub Max display isn't in use, it can quietly keep you entertained. You can add your favorite photos to Google Photos and display them in your Google Nest Photo frame. Alternatively, you can choose an existing art gallery or select from a variety of traditional and abstract clocks to show while your device is idle.
The Nest Hub’s display can show you the weather, play news with video, offer step-by-step recipe instructions, control your smart lights, and even play YouTube videos. But one of the Nest Hub’s best features, ambient display mode, only appears when you’re not using the hub. But did you know there’s a dedicated view within the smart display where you can see all of them? It’s called the Home View and it can be accessed at any time by swiping down from the top portion of the display. You’ll have access to the lights, routines, media, broadcast, and cameras.
Share groups of photos with your Google contacts
Alternatively, you can leave a video message for someone that’ll play on the Nest Hub Max when their face is detected by the camera with Face Match. You do that in the Google Photos app. Choose the Live Album you've just created – or, indeed, any album you want – and then tap the three dots in the upper right corner. Select "Share" from the menu, and then put in the email of the other Google account you want to have access. Besides issuing these commands with your voice, you can use on-screen icons for the same effect.
Tap an individual device for precise controls that allow you to fine-tune your settings. Tap "View Rooms" on the control panel to see all of your connected devices grouped by room. You can watch YouTube videos on the Home Hub and live TV with YouTube TV.
A few physical controls
If you want to use the same list of people you chose above, then choose the Friends & Family album instead of the “Select family & friends” option. Go take a look at your handiwork and marvel how good your pictures look on this display. When you turn off the lights in the room, your Nest Hub will dim automatically and change to displaying the time instead.
The end result gives the display that photo-realistic look, especially when it’s displaying photos. This is a feature that doesn’t require any intervention on your part because it’s automatic. No matter the time of day, lighting conditions, or its placement, Ambient EQ will ensure that the Nest Max Hub’s display will look photo realistic.

Take time to identify the people in more than one picture—especially children who may have photos at different stages in life. Initially, Google may not recognize a person at age four and then at age six as the same person, but if you label each with the same name, it will offer to merge the pictures. Keep doing this and, eventually, Google will learn and accurately display children as they grow even when you haven’t identified specific photos.
